I’m Melting Away

I weighed in this morning and from January 3rd until today I’ve lost 18 pounds. I’m so happy and pleased with myself, I’ve been working so hard these past four weeks and I’m now seeing amazing results - it’s really gratifying.

On top of that I ended a bad friendship today with someone who always wanted our friendship to be on his terms. Like most fabulous people, I don’t really need any new friends. So deciding that some of the ones that I have now I could do without is quite empowering. I don’t need people in my life who want me around when I look or act a certain way, or because I can get into this or that nightclub. I need people in my life who value me for who I am. I’ve got a great boyfriend, wonderful friends and family and I’m looking forward to the future. Out with the old and in with the new!

Hee Hee!

I feel a bit evil this morning after hearing the news that Alito was sworn in today to the Supreme Court. I’m rubbing my hands together at the havoc his rulings are going to cause for the Republican party, and if all goes according to plan the most extreme rulings on issues of privacy rights will start rolling down in 2008, just in time for people to see that when the Republicans say they want to make abortion a criminal offense and require prescriptions and proof of marriage for contraception, they’re serious, and the Supreme Court will no longer be an impediment to their plans, but rather an active and willing cheerleader in the biggest rollback of privacy rights, and the biggest expansion of presidential power, that this nation will have ever seen.

Fraud!

I was in the Mission last night at Pink, having a good time with my boyfriend and dancing the night away when I decided to go to the ATM to get some cash. Because I was drunk I left my ATM card in the machine, and evidently someone behind me in line saw me input my PIN number because they stole $700 out of my account.

What a pain. I’m leaving for New York on Friday and I won’t have a debit card to use while I’m there, which means I have to take a bundle of cash with me. I called my bank and they told me it would take 8-10 business days to get a new card, and while they could ‘expedite’ a new card (for a $35.00 fee) they couldn’t guarantee it would arrive before I left on Friday. And I also have to go to the bank and sign an affidavit that it wasn’t me that took the cash, and then it can take them two weeks to put the money back into my account.

Moral of the story - get cash before getting drunk. Also watch for shady peeps in the Mission, which is like everyone, so maybe I’ll just never get cash there again.

Bad Doc

One of the funnest things about being married to a doctor is receiving the Action Report from the California Medical Board in the mail. This publication, available to anyone over the web and sent out 3x a year to members of the California Medical Board, lists administrative actions taken against any physician holding a California Medical License.

While 99% of physicians are great people and excellent doctors there are always a few bad apples in the bunch. You wouldn’t believe what some have been up to. Here’s a sample:

Shawn Kent Hassler, MD - 5 YRS. PROBATION W/TERMS & CONDITIONS & 30 DAYS SUSPENSION BROKEN INTOTWO 15 DAY PERIODS. 1ST PERIOD SERVED 09/28/05-10/12/05. 2ND PERIODSHALL BEGIN ON 01/18/06 THROUGH 02/01/06. 1ST YR. OF PROBATION HE SHALL HAVE A 3RD PARTY CHAPERONE WHILE TREATING MALE PATIENTS. This physician obviously has an issue with sexual misconduct and male patients, because he’s required to have a chaperone when treating them. Charming. He also seems to have a problem prescribing controlled substances, including marijuana.

Licensee Name: MUZAFFAR LATEEF GILL, MD
License Type: PHYSICIAN AND SURGEON
License Number: A63446
License Status: LICENSE REVOKED
Public Record Actions: See below
FELONY CONVICTION
Complaint Number: 202004155370
Court: STEARNS CO., MINNESOTA 7TH JUDICIAL DIST. CT.
Docket Number: K8-01-1397
Description: FOUND GUILTY OF 1 COUNT TERRORIST THREATS AND ASSAULT IN THE THIRD DEGREE
Sentence: PENDING
Effective Date of Action: APRIL 12, 2002 - A Pakistani making terrorist threats? Who would have thought?

There is so much on this site. Physicians who “have a condition affecting their ability to practice medicine,” which in laymen’s terms means they have a drug or alcohol problem. Physicans found guilty of sexual and physical misconduct, negligence, failing to maintain records, Medicare fraud, wire fraud, dishonest and corrupt conduct, sexual relationships with patients, lewd acts upon children, verbally abusive behavior etc…

Do you know what your physican has been up to? If they have a California medical license you can check them out here.

Mama Moonbeam

Poor, poor Cindy Sheehan. When not hanging out with members of the Revolutionary Communist Party USA, blaming Jews for the war in Iraq or absorbing the adoring platitudes of other deluded Marxists in places like Venezuela she’s threatening to run in the Democratic primary against Senator Dianne Feinstein.

I’m sure Sen. Feinstein is quaking in her size 9 Ferragamos.

I used to feel badly for Cindy Sheehan. Who doesn’t feel badly for a mother who has lost their son? But then, slowly but surely, Cindy Sheehan allowed herself to be manipulated by the hard-line Marxist anti-semites that control ANSWER by appearing at their crazy events while holding her fist aloft and screeching about Israel. She has transformed herself from a grieving mother into a shrieking harridan, a repulsive and loathsome anti-semite who has become an embarrassing caricature of her former self.

Cindy Sheehan isn’t a patriot, what she is is a disgusting minion of a group of notorious Maoists and anti-semites, and it’s time true progressives stood up and spoke out against the pimping of her dead son by both Sheehan and her counterparts on the idiot left.

Queers for Palestine

What, exactly, does being gay have to do with Palestine?

A lot if you talk to the freaks from Queers for Palestine. These idiots would be strung up in a second if they dared to be openly gay in Palestine, or any other Muslim country for that matter. Not only would the gay men be strung up (as has happened in Iran recently) but the women would be raped until their pussies bled, then they’d be married off and forced to have 15 children. Yes, I know Arab men often have sex with other men, don’t forget I lived in Morocco, but fucking another guy is very different from living your life openly as a gay who fucks other guys, or a women who eats the pussy of other chicks.

If gays have anything in common with a group in the Middle East it’s the Jews, who after all are the ones that have paid the most terrible price for anti-semitism and racism. Don’t forget that along with the Jews marching to the gas chambers were considerable numbers of homosexuals as well.

Zombie has it right here. Of all the psycho anti-war protesters out there Queers for Palestine have to be the craziest yet.

Domestic Help

We temporarily have a new maid while our other maid is on maternity leave.

The new maid is alright, I guess, but she speaks not a word of English beyond “OK”, and even then I sometimes wonder if she knows what “OK” means. It’s not like Kenia, our old maid, spoke English but somehow she and I just seemed to have this connection where I spoke French and English and she spoke Spanish and things just made sense. Kenia knew where everything was so she always put all the dishes and things like that back in their proper place. But the new maid doesn’t, so I’m often finding things in weird places, like wooden spoons mixed with plastic spoons, and my garlic press in a pan in the cupboard.

As a matter of fact I don’t even know what the new maid’s name is. I realized that today when I had to get cash to pay her after I left the gym and she wasn’t here when I returned, instead leaving a note in Spanish, which is of course incomprehensible to me. What does it mean? Does she just want to be paid next week? Will she come back soon demanding her wages? With our old maid this would never have happened because she took a check, which always makes things so much easier. I miss our old maid and hope she recovers from her little baby soon and can come back and clean our house.

Hamasistan

I’m not quite sure why everyone is freakin’ over Hamas winning control of the Hamasistan… err.. Palestinian legislature.

The only real effect of this is it’s going to force Hamas to take responsibility for government instead of sitting on the sidelines throwing stones and firing rockets, neither of which feeds mouths or keeps the lights on. In addition the Palestinians, a mainly secular people, won’t take kindly to Hamas plans to ban dancing and force women to wear the veil.

As far as Israel is concerned this victory could be the greatest gift to the Jewish state since Yasser Arafat finally croaked last year. Who is going to fault Israel for building the wall and unilaterally withdrawing from large portions of the West Bank now? Hamas is dedicated to the destruction of Israel and maintaining the “armed resistance.” No one is going to blame Israel for finally forcing the Palestinians to accept peace on Israel’s terms, not as long as Hamas is in power anyway.

What’s the Right Caloric Intake for Me?

Yesterday after I finished working out I was terribly exhausted, like so tired that it was an extreme effort to climb the stairs to my house. I was also grouchy and in a terrible mood. This is the way I’ve been feeling for a couple of weeks, yet I’ve kept to a strict 1,200 calorie + 110 grams of protein-a-day diet. I’ve also kept up my punishing 4-5 times a week workouts at the gym consisting of 1 hour of weights and 40 minutes of cardio. No wonder I’m exhausted, right?

Right. I’m going to increase my daily caloric intake by at least 300 calories. I started last night and today I feel much better. Stronger, happier and more energetic.

The moral of the story is that we all have our own dietary needs and because I put myself on this diet and limited myself to 1,200 calories a day doesn’t mean it’s right for my body, especially when you add in my workouts. Anyone doing something like I’m doing should listen clearly to what their body is telling them, whether you feel exhausted, hungry or stiff. Don’t be arbitrary and fight what you’re hearing, listen and make peace and you’ll be a much happier (and healthier) person.
